I lost the book that had logged years of my adventures, so, I decided to make my new list digital. In the spirit of trying new things I've never done, I'm going to share these experiences with you.

Here we go...

August 10th - August 16th

The Week of Art, Shoes and Whimsy

On tuesday the 12th, I finally made it to LACMA.

I know, I know. It's hard to believe I've lived in LA since 2003 but had never been. I was dog sitting down the street from Museum Square, which is why I made it a point to go. Plus, every second Tuesday of the month is free general admission and LACMA's Bing Theater has a weekly matinee series (on Tuesdays) where they show a classic film.  The movie featured this week was Singing in the Rain, which happens to be a favorite of mine.

I didn't make it to the movie because I randomly ran in to an old friend… Which was totally worth missing the movie for. I finally got to enjoy the museum and when I add running in to someone I hadn't seen for a while, it proved to be a really fantastic afternoon.

There were a few areas closed down to prepare for upcoming exhibitions so I look forward to seeing what's in store. There are also a few matinees that I want to see, including one on my birthday…

I'll surely be going back soon.

~~~~~
I was asked to head over to Mambo Casting on Wednesday the 13th. I had never been to this casting office before and the reasoning behind it was most definitely new to me. My converse, got a callback for a Converse photoshoot… In New York.
Yup. You read that right. My shoes had a callback for Converse, in New York. I went in with the so they could do a quick shoot that they added when they shipped them for their callback.
Since I have never been to NY, I find it very amusing that my shoes went without me. I just know that when I do finally get to go, I plan on bringing those converse with me.
On Thursday the 14th, I finally got to check out the super nerdy and totally rad store called Whimsic Alley. This place has a whole lot of Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and other swag.
In the back of the shop there's another area with a "great hall" where they hold events. Which is definitely a place I'd want to rent for a fun shindig… Because nerd reasons.
I found a lot of future birthday and holiday gift ideas there, as well as some stuff that I wouldn't mind having myself. So, let me know if you want to head in here again anytime soon.
That's is for this week. Now, on to the next...
August 3rd - August 9th
This week I actually have a few new things!
First up, I felt that autocorrect needed to be heard…
So, I went the week without correcting anything autocorrect decided to "fix." I will say that my being a lone wolf came in handy with this, as I didn't get a whole lot of texts to respond to. It was mostly little weird errors but it occasionally resulted in some texts like this.
To be fair… They wanted me to wait another 4 hours. After waiting 2.
Luckily my friends know me well enough to guess what I'm going to say anyway. This is something that could come in handy if I'm ever having an emergency brain malfunction while trying to text a friend.
~~~~~

Secondly, I got to join my friend for a visit to Bob Mackie's shop!

I was able to experience this awesomeness thanks to a few marvelous friends. We were given a tour of the shop and the costumes it held. And yes, I squealed with joy more than once. I saw some of the most amazing Cher costumes, brilliant pieces that have been in the presence of Lucile Ball and I almost fainted at some of the glorious things Carol Burnett has worn. All in all, we had a grand time.

I think I found my new look.

Oh yeah, and I also got to hold an Emmy. Bam!

I. Am. Fabulous.

Talk about an amazing week of things I'd never done before! Now, on next week...

July 27th - August 2nd

Every morning, I wake up with a song already stuck in my head. On July 30th, I decided to start writing these songs down after I first wake up.

Man. My brain is a big ol' jungle of the bizarre.

This musically charged way that I start a day is a totally weird thing that's been happening my whole life.  Maybe in writing down what my brain has decided is its theme song of the day is, I'll have a key to my psyche. Perhaps I'll see some sort of pattern. There's also the possibility that nothing inspiring will come of it and there's a chance I'll start making super-bizarro random-brain mixes. Who knows… But I've never made note of these songs before…

So, hey. It's my new thing.

July 20th - July 26th

On the 20th I created a new blogger account, just for this blog and decided to make my list public…

Which you already knew, if you're reading this.

It's still totally me though.

So It Begins…

Every week I do at least one thing I've never done before.

Since I lost the physical book that contained years of these experiences, I decided to start making my list digital. I wrote about this on another blog and asked if people would be interested to see what each week brings me. A lot of people reached out and said they wanted to know what new things I would try, no matter how big or small, so here we are.

This week, I've decided to make this public… Which may or may not be the thing for the week. I guess we'll find out after I post.

I've decided to make the weeks Sunday through Saturday. I know most of you think the week starts on a Monday but I feel like maybe that's why Mondays are so brutal to many of us. So, I'm going to take some pressure off of that day and make the start of my week Sunday.

Because I only have to catch you up on a few weeks, I'm just going to share what's come about from the start of logging everything digitally. You ready? Here we go…

The Week of June 15th

Lost the notebook that held years worth of "things I'd never done before." Smooth, I know. However, this lead in to the next new thing…

I started a digital list. Even though I'm still totally afraid of the robot apocalypse and most things computer related.

The Week of June 22nd

Went to an amazing musical called Giraffenstein.
This hilarious musical was the story of Frankenstein… But with giraffes. It was beyond amusing and I got to see it at a theater I'd never been to, called the Lillian.

I also finally got to my first "Grunion Run."
I learned all about the bizarre mating habits of this shiny fish and had a really great time. My friend and I decided we wanted to go back next year, but we want to go on the night they don't allow you to catch them. That part made us really sad and people weren't even letting them do their thing. That was something we had wanted to witness, so hopefully next year that can happen.

The Week of June 29th

I went to a totally weird and awesome "alternative karaoke" bar.
There were tarot readings behind the stage and we happened to go on a night that there was a costumed birthday thing happening. They had the most randomly amazing song list of goth, new wave and other alternative music and a lot of fun was had.

This was the week that I also tried being more forward with someone I was interested in and initiated physical contact. This was probably one of the scariest things I've done in a while since I'm shy when I have a crush and I'm dealing with someone that comes off as aloof.

The Week of July 6th

Tried a new vegan cafe in Los Angeles called Sage's.
I was taken by an non-vegan and I normally won't let someone that isn't trying to become vegan or vegetarian take me to a completely vegan place. I don't judge people on what they eat and it makes me uncomfortable to force someone in to my dietary choices. It was crazy hot inside but pretty decent grub.

The Week of July 13th

I had my first Old Fashioned.
After hearing that I'd never had one, my friend decided it was time I had the best of the best. She made sure she had all the fixins and made me the most delicious and properly made classic beverage.

We then watched the first two episodes of Penny Dreadful with some friends. In regards to that show, I'm all in. It was weird and spooky and everything you'd want for a penny dreadful story. I can't wait until we have another viewing party for the next episodes.

So, that's that. We're off to a slightly boring start but I've been insanely busy and sometimes it's hard to fit in something spectacular.
